SHARE Wisconsin:  Partnering with SHARE Wisconsin, DCF is collecting surplus computer systems that are refurbished by SHARE volunteers.  Computer skills training classes are being developed to enhance volunteer leadership skills. Each volunteer that completes a two hour training session will be offered a free computer system that includes a PC, monitor, keyboard, mouse, modem, an Ubuntu Linux operating system and the Open Office productivity suite.

Rural America Project: This special project  in partnership with Grozik Associates is working to improve community computer skills and Internet access for rural towns throughout Wisconsin and northern Illinois.  DCF is also exploring the use of the Educational Broadband Services spectrum to provide wireless broadband services to the high desert area around Bend, Oregon.

Healthy at Home:  This project explores the use of aging-in-place technologies to improve rural health care.  DCF plans to use surplus computer systems and "lifeline" Internet access to help connect senior citizens to their extended families and to health care support services.
